How to Build Your Business Online

Imagine how you work your business offline. There are many different avenues that you can take.

In Network Marketing, we call it “putting lines in the water.” You are fishing, anticipating making the big catch! With the Internet, you'll use Internet Fishing Lines.

So, offline, you might run an ad in the newspaper, join a Networking Group, talk to people in a club that you belong to, and even strike up a conversation with strangers while you are out and about.

The Internet is no different.

Online, you might run an ad in a newsletter or e-zine, find a message board where people of like interests gather, participate in email discussion groups, or visit some social networking sites and strike up conversation and get involved.

Look familiar?

There are three tools that I feel are absolutely crucial to your success online

1. A personal web site that sells you! This could be a BLOG.
2. Autoresponders, for business information, follow up and a newsletter. A way to build a list!
3. Leads for your business. People who come to you.

The methods you will use to generate leads are called "Marketing Funnels." This is how you advertise and promote your website and ultimately, your business. Some of these marketing funnels include –

Developing Your List and Getting Subscribers
Dynamic email signature line
Search Engines
Social Networking Sites and Web 2.0 – Facebook, Twitter, Squidoo, YouTube, etc.
BLOGGING
Message Boards and Forums
Articles
Discussion Lists
Online Profiles
Target Markets
Reciprocal Links
E-books
Ezine/Newsletter Ad swaps and advertising
Visiting other Home Based Business Sites
Branding yourself online

You will spend some time initially getting things set up, but once it's done, your efforts are invested in activities that produce results! That equates to a fat paycheck!

The payoff is well worth it and once you are actually building your business this way, you’ll wonder how you ever did it any other way.

Rules For Successfully Using the Internet as a Prospecting Tool

The Internet can be an incredible tool for promoting yourself, your products and your opportunity.

There are a few “housekeeping” thoughts you should know about the Internet and the role that it can play in your business.

First of all, don’t expect that the Internet is going to take the place of building the relationship with your prospects or the “human touch.”

The Internet is the greatest sorting tool there is, and it will sort through your prospects and deliver to you someone who is looking for what you have to offer.

As soon as your prospect fills out the contact form on your website, or makes contact with you in anyway, now is the time for you to pick up the phone, if you have a phone number, or make personal contact with your prospect in some way.

PLEASE DON’T MISS THIS POINT.

Also, don’t waste any time getting back with these prospects. If someone is willing to take the time to give you contact information, use it! Every month, without fail, I hear from interested business prospects who have completed four or five forms online and I am the only one to call back or make contact. And, guess who sponsors them? Me, that's right! Set yourself apart and call those contacts!

Those who think that the Internet is going to replace the human factor involved in Network Marketing will never experience long term success.

Another important housekeeping note is to remember this simple concept - "If you wouldn't do it offline at a party, don't do it online in a forum or community; or social media site."

Don't update your wall on Facebook with posts about how much money you or someone is making in your opportunity. Don't litter Twitter with hype and bogus claims.

Here's the thing - no one who is a serious candidate for you business believes any of that anyway. People who see and respond to those ads are looking for a quick, simple fix, and we all know that it doesn't matter who the company is; the big name behind it; the product line; or the comp plan - this things don't guarantee success!

Build relationships online and you'll build a strong, lasting business.

Manifest Your Destiny - Wayne Dyers 9 Spiritual Principles for Getting Everything You Want

Manifest Your Destiny is truly one of my favorite books of all time. It doesn't matter whether you are seeking more out of personal relationships; your spiritual relationships; business relationships; or yourself, his 9 Principles for Getting What You Want are life changing.

When I was introduced to this book in June, 1999, at was at a real crossroads in my life, in terms of business and what I wanted to pursue that would be fulfilling. A mentor of mine suggested the book to me as a way of sorting through what I wanted and "where" I was.

It was about 8:30pm, and I had small children. In their pajamas, I loaded them in the car and we raced to Barnes and Noble before it closed so I could start my new journey THAT NIGHT!

It truly changed my thoughts, my philosophy and my life. I became clear on my business direction and what I wanted to pursue in my life. I also became clear on setting my focus and attracting what I wanted.

Here are some thoughts into those 9 Principles. See if anything speaks to you and if so, I highly recommend you get the book -

Principle #1 - Becoming Aware of Your Highest Self - Are the decisions and actions in your life controlled by your ego? Do you have an ever-present need to defend yourself?

Principle #2 - Trusting Yourself is Trusting the Wisdom That Created You - Do you inherently trust yourself and your decisions? Are you weighed down with troubles or unresolved issues in your life?

Principle #3 - You Are Not an organism An Environment, You Are an Environorganism - Do you feel out of touch with your environment? Are your days more often out of sync than in?

Principle #4 - You Can Attract to Yourself What You Desire - Do you have limits in your life that
prevent you from making changes or achieving your highest goals?

Principle #5 - Honoring Your Worthiness to Receive - Do you love what you do, and do what you love, in life? Are you constrained by feelings of unworthiness?

Principle #6 - Connecting to the Divine Source With Unconditional Love - Is your day filled with high energy and the feeling that "everything is going my way"? Or do you experience frustration and anger?

Principle #7 - Meditating to the Sound of Creation - How would your life change after learning to attract what you want - peace or love, job advancement or monetary fortune?

Principle #8 - Patiently Detach From the Outcome - Do you believe that the universe operates randomly? Are you impatient waiting for good things to happen?

Principle #9 - Reacting to Your Manifestations With Gratitude and Generosity - Do you complain, find fault or take for granted more often than you appreciate your life?

I highly encourage you to read the book and delve more deeply into each of these principles. I recommend studying just one principle for a week, or two, or even a month!

Effective Use of Facebook for Your Business #1

Facebook is an amazing tool for many things. I have enjoyed it most for reconnecting with friends and people from my past – school, previous jobs, previous places I have lived, etc. And, I certainly enjoy and use it as a business building tool.

It can be a very effective tool for your business, when done correctly. Here are a few ways to make your time spent on Facebook, and other social media marketing sites worthwhile, and beneficial for those you connect with.

This series is going to share some tips for success with Social Media Marketing.

First, if you are going to request a friend from someone you don't know, take the time to look at their INFO page and know a little about them. To me, it's very irritating to have someone request my friendship, and then send me a message asking "tell me a little about you. What do you do?" Well, duh, why did you want to make friends with me if you weren't really interested in knowing about me BEFORE the request.

It's much more effective to take a moment and read a little on the INFO page (I realize you can't see it all) and then send a message commenting on something specific. That lets the person know that you are sincere and not just racking up a huge number of friends with no regard for the quality.

Building relationships is the first step in building a business and it starts with sincere interest.

Are You Benefiting From the Internet in Business?

The Power of an Internet Based Business

When asked recently why I felt the Internet had played such an important role in my business, I had to really stop and think about just what it has meant. Really, if I sum it up, it's the difference between having a business and creating a lifestyle, and having a job.

See, the Internet provided the total solution for me when I began using it nearly ten years ago. I was struggling in my Network Marketing business prior to taking my business online. As the mother of small children, my ability (and, yes, willingness) to leave my children with a sitter or in daycare to run around town giving business overviews greatly stunted my ability to build an effective business.

Once I had exhausted my warm market, I needed a way to find interested prospects. Well, heck, if the internet is the greatest self help tool ever invented, then it makes sense that many prospects must be online looking for a business, so in essence, looking for me, right?

Well, that is absolutely right and that is absolutely what has happened. I took my business to the Internet; I struggled through building a personal website; learning lead capture and auto-responder details; and finally, how to market my business online.

One thing I knew from day one – jumping into social networks; forums and other places where people hang out and blasting out worthless messages about how great my opportunity is was not going to build a stable business. How is it that I "got that" ten years ago and so many people have not? It's worth repeating – if you wouldn't do it at a party offline, don’t do it at a party online! It's not welcome and it's obnoxious!

The second thing I learned is that picking up the phone and making contact as soon as possible would create relationships and friendships that would lead to business partnerships. The Internet is a great tool to make contact, but it doesn’t develop the relationship. It has no true human factor and network marketing is still a people to people business.

Finally, I know that I would never be where I am today if not for the Internet. See, I could have built the business I have, but it would have cost me the relationship I have with my children. It would have required me to be gone; out of the house for probably 4 nights a week and one weekend. It would have required more travel than the "once a quarter" trip I take now. It would have meant much more time on the phone.

So, for me, the Internet has been a priceless business building tool. It has been the center of my business, besides the people who are involved. It has connected me to some of the most amazing people on the planet. It has allowed me to "multiply" myself and be many places at once.

I encourage you to see how this tool might benefit you and your business. If you pursue it and commit to master it (as best it can be mastered) like I have, you will never look back and never regret it.

My best to you.

Does Attraction Marketing Really Work in MLM

Does Attraction Marketing in MLM really work online? It certainly seems to be the buzz word these days, doesn't it? Everywhere you look, someone is talking about it. But, how many people are really practicing it, and can it really be done?

How do you set yourself apart and draw customers and prospective business partners to you? Well, it's really fairly simple, and actually easier to do online than offline.

Think of the many people who you may have run across online who are "peddling" their MLM Opportunity. Spamming it is probably a better word choice. Most Network Marketers online think that the way to build online is to over-hype their opportunity to EVERYONE they come into contact with.

They buzz onto Facebook, make a zillion friends and then zap them all a message telling them how great their deal is; how much money they are making and how "just plain stupid" you are for not joining them yesterday!

How many times have you clicked to know more when you get these obnoxious posts? Probably none!

So how do you begin an MLM Attraction Marketing Magnet? How do you get people beating down your door to join your business?

I'm going to give you three key concepts to practice when you are marketing your business online.

Concept One – Be authentic. This is easier said than done for some, but seriously, how hard is it to just be yourself? Share your story and let people see who you are. Don’t try to embellish your experiences in MLM or try to be a "success story" that you have not yet created.

Instead, share your successes and your failures; your hopes, goals and dreams. Talk about your motivation and reason why you are building a business. Share things that you have tried that didn't work out. Share what you see in your opportunity in a very real way, without using any hype.

These things are what will bond your prospect to you because there will likely be some common ground between you.

Concept Two – Provide content and value – give your knowledge away freely. You may have
seen it said that you must be willing to give in order to get. Be willing to give away some of your "Secrets" to building successfully. Share tips and resources that have worked for you. Share as much free stuff as you can find.

It's okay to offer affiliate programs and other monetization models that help fund your business, but make sure you are not always coming after your prospects or your audience with your hand out. Give away more than you profit from, and make sure what you give away offers true value.

A good way to give away content of value is to do a review on a product or service you have used online. Or, perhaps explain an effective way you have discovered of using Facebook, or a particular application there. Have you figured out a great way to manage your Social Networking activities? This would be something great to share with an audience who will be hungry to know any time saving techniques you can offer.

Content and value are what reign supreme online and you will quickly generate a following and many prospects when you can be counted on for great information.

Concept Three – Become a consultant in the Network Marketing Profession. This doesn't mean give away all of your time, but be willing to devote some time to assisting those outside of your own downline. When someone comes to you with a problem or question, pick up the phone and give them a quick call if possible. You will likely make their jaw drop and they will appreciate and remember you for this.

Make sure you make that time about the person you are calling and not just a chance for you to go on and on about yourself or your business. Ask questions and listen. See if you can get to the heart of this person's need and find a way to provide a solution.

You never know when the time might come that this person will be looking to make a company change. I promise that the time you invested in that person and that phone call will stand out and likely prompt them to consider joining your team!

Attraction Marketing works like a charm if you will take the time to master the skills of coming from a place of contribution. Give generously and know that you will soon have prospects lining up at your door! Be ready to coach them to do the same!

a) understanding how to better relate to my prospects

b) creating content that is compelling and "speaks" to the prospect.

c) balancing my business and my real life!

d) developing a business plan that resonates with my goals and desires for the next few years.

e) working smarter, in less time, freeing up more time for me and my family.

MLM Duplication Myth

I recently read an interesting thread on another BLOG and thought it might be useful to cover the concepts here. It involves the ever elusive theory of "duplication" in MLM. Maybe you can relate. I welcome your comments.

Here's what was written -

"To get duplication, keep the system so simple that even stupid people can do it." (I'm quoting my upline here who used to say, "Keep it simple stupid," or "KISS". He later changed this to "Keep it short and simple," which still stood for KISS... I imagine because some were offended by the word 'stupid.')I think this famous network marketing motto is completely off base.

It puts people's focus on the wrong side of the fence. My upline who used to say "KISS" made $300,000+ a month, but I didn't notice one person on his team who he worked with that wasn't a star player--he attracted them because he knew the principles that make you INFLUENTIAL.

And THAT is why he saw the duplication.

There was a time when I could enroll a lot of people into my organization by working hard all day, every day, at an intensity few would endure for long--The end result was OK, but nothing close to my potential and it wasn't at all rewarding because I knew I wasn't tapping into my potential. I knew I couldn't help others tap into their potential if I wasn't.

Mike Klingler

My thoughts and response -

I took my business online over 9 years ago; a network marketing business. I was told then, and am still told today, that what I do is not duplicable; too complicated; that no one can "do what I do." Ouch.

Hmmm, and yet many of the strongest leaders in my organization are forging their own path through internet marketing. And, interesting to note that I am the highest paid in my company with the largest downline. (I certainly don't take credit as getting this done all by myself.)

I'm glad I didn't and don't buy into that misguided theory. After all, I'm a stay home mom who didn't have a lot of time, or a ton of money, but did have a BIG desire. I've never taken a computer class in my life and everything I have learned is self taught, so why can't another do that?

It's vain for anyone to think that "others can't do what I do" or to doubt that another could follow such a complicated system. Take the very shy person and tell them to join BNI or the Chamber of Commerce to generate leads and that person will be out of the business in short order.

Show me any leader or top income earner in any company and I will show you how they somehow forged their own path and differentiated themselves in some way. Nothing wrong with that; all success stories in any profession do this. And, there are always those who will follow and forge their own path as well.

Why do we tell people evaluating network marketing to "think outside of the box" and then when we sponsor them, we want to put them back into a box – "our box"; the box called – simple duplication; the cookie cutter approach?

How many people really succeed at working their warm list? Is this method duplicable? Sure. But if it were really such a "simple" process then we would have less people quitting the profession of network marketing and more people quitting their jobs.

Success in a business, ANY business, requires developing a successful skill set. PERIOD. Good communication; speaking and marketing skills; and leadership are all part of the equation. These are the things that must be duplicated to be successful in MLM, and the way to develop these skills will vary based on the individual and their PASSION.

People often ask me what the BEST way is to generate leads online. For me, the BEST way is the way you feel drawn toward and passionate about. What is BEST for me will not necessarily be BEST for you. That's okay, it’s not a right or wrong, it’s just a FACT.

Once a person moves into developing their own skills, the process does become (dare I say it?) EASY. It really does. It is EASY for me to sponsor 10-20 people a month now. It was NOT easy to do this before I developed my own skill set.

I worked harder BEFORE I developed these skills and made a LOT less money and had a LOT less fun.

10 years ago, I decided that the theory of "Duplication" being taught by so many is a complete myth. I am not interested in a cookie cutter business or being forced into someone else's "box."

It takes time, money and, more than ANYTHING else, a commitment to "going back to school." Going back to school involves learning, researching, and getting rid of the desire to say "This is too hard." It is "hard" to make a lot of money, in anything. And, "hard" is relative.

Understanding the reality of the 2 – 5 year plan is imperative in Network Marketing, and , in most cases, even with internet marketing, because one still has to develop that skill set.

How fun, though, to earn while you learn and develop those skills following a passion and helping others. So, to echo a sentiment, before you ask –

When will I earn $5k a month? $10k a month, and so on; ask this – what value am I offering another? What skill can (WILL!) I work to develop today that will make me better, even if it doesn't yield an "immediate" gratification result?

Like the analogy of going to the gym, the first week that you set out on a workout routine, you don't look in the mirror and see dramatic results. We don't see what is happening behind the scenes. But, it's happening none-the-less.

Same with developing our business skill sets in Network Marketing. I cringe when someone quits after a month or two in the business and says "I'm going to try something else." I want to tell them to save their money.

Here is the reality, until the SKILLS needed are developed, the results will be the same. Guaranteed.

So here is the very simple business plan for success – decide what you are truly willing to commit your time, money and energy toward learning and mastering.

Once you have that determined, write it down and then seek out a mentor who is doing what you want and will coach you (not just teach, there is a difference) in developing your skill set. Pull out all of the stops to get it done and resist the temptation to quit when it seems just a little tough.

I look forward to YOUR insight and comments.

Biggest Mistake Most Networkers Are Making in Their Business

If you are a serious networker, read on.

Here is the most common mistake that most network marketers make in
their business -

spending WAY too much time telling people about how great their
product or opportunity is, and in most cases, no time telling their
prospect HOW this is going to make a difference in their life and
how they are going to actually "do it."

Sound familiar?

Especially in today's economy, people are looking for how this is
going to make a difference financially. They need to know what
exactly they are going to be doing, what are the steps they are
going to take.

Many people who are looking certainly feel as if they have burned
bridges with much of their warm market throughout the years and
they want a new school method of attracting solid prospects.

Because the reality is, even though that warm market list is still
a viable way for many people to launch their business, if your new
business builder does not believe for him or herself that this will
work for them, it won't!

So, why not be prepared to offer a way that creates a strong,
empowered business partner; one who feels capable of really making
a business work this time?

And, backing up for a moment, why not create this for yourself? Why
not learn the techniques of attraction marketing that get people
coming to you, instead of you chasing them.

In other words, become the hunted, not the hunter? Doesn't that
just sound better?

I'm going to offer two suggestions for you today. What you do with
them is really up to you, but if you are ready to stop talking
about online business success and start making it happen, you'll
strongly consider these.

First, get signed up for Mike K's university. It's not perfect, and
no one thing is, but the overview you'll get will give you some
solid insight into the "how-to's" of online business and team
building.

concepts that you'll be using.

Be sure to go to Step 3 and watch the 2nd Webinar Video - How Blogs
Bring Prospects. Good stuff you'll want to know. It's an hour, so
plan on it.

Go through and get a basic overview.

Second, get my Online Marketing e-book and learn the step by step
process to get yourself out on the internet and create your own
internet Hub. This is how people find you. I've used the steps
offered here consistently over the past 9 years to become a million
dollar income earner in Network Marketing.

http://www.StreetSmartCoach.com/online.html

I would love to be your personal success coach to teach you how to
be a solid Internet Marketer, with a strong Network Marketing
business and other cash flow that will sustain you in business.
This will support your marketing efforts as you work to create a
very lucrative Network Marketing business.

And, you'll duplicate this on down the line. Some people will tell
you this can't be done, but I strongly disagree. I've been doing it
for 9 ½ years. It works if you will work it!

So, are you ready? Ready to seriously take action today?

Let me hear from you on what you think. I would love to hear how
things are working for you.
