10 Tips For Holiday Business Builders

The holiday season can mean a real slow down for home-based business owners, but only if you let it! With a holiday plan for business and some organization, you can keep your business thriving, and propel yourself into the New Year!

Here's how -

1. Do some follow up now with past contacts. Schedule a phone or face-to-face appointment to review your program or products. How might your products fill a need for your contacts or referrals during the holiday season? Brainstorm some ideas before the meeting.

2. Do you have a product or service that might be perfect for holiday gifts? Schedule some lunch time or afternoon showings for people to preview. Make gift suggestions and offer to gift wrap. Send out email greeting cards to remind people to buy from you! Think about gift baskets and corporate gift giving. This can develop some solid referrals and contacts for the future.

3. Offer a discount coupon to anyone who refers a friend who also purchases between now and the first of the year. Start a VIP purchasing program; or create a "punch card" for buy XX and get one free.

4. Begin setting appointments now for January. Let people know that you realize they are busy and suggest a date in January. Let them know you have time open now and would also love to offer them a date after the holidays.

5. Put yourself in power momentum by scheduling blocks of time daily for contacts and follow up. What is realistic each day? 5 of each? 10 of each? Set the pace and stick to it! Set your calendar up with blocks of business time as far out and consistently as possible.

6. Go on a mission to pass out as many flyers and business cards as humanly possible over the next month. As you do, have a 30 second "commercial" ready that may appeal to what they need right now. Extra cash for the holidays? Convenient and secure online shopping with no crowds, hassles or parking? Delivery? Get creative!

7. Going to a lot of holiday parties and events? Use this time to meet as many people as you can. Ask lots of questions and collect business cards and email addresses. Ask each person if they mind if you keep in touch with them. If they begin asking you questions, be prepared with short, intriguing answers. If they show an interest, schedule a time to contact them in the next few days. Try to avoid saying to much about your business at the party. Schedule, schedule, schedule and then be sure to follow up! And, if you have samples, bring them.

8. Include a business card, flyer, post card or some bit of "shameless promotion" in your holiday cards and correspondence. Don't send cards? Now you have a good reason to start! Check on that tax deduction! Don't be obnoxious; just share your enthusiasm.

9. Begin reviewing your past year's goals and accomplishments. Where can you improve? In what ways can you push yourself on to bigger and better next year? Have your next year's business plan concrete before January 1!

10. Keep your focus, remember CANI (constant and never ending improvement) and enjoy the season, knowing that you are doing and being the best you can be! Set big expectations and make them happen.

10 Success Principles For Your Direct Sales Business

1. Use Your Products - be your own best customer. How can you succeed with a product line you don't use and embrace? Enough said.

2. Accept Your Opportunity As it Is and Take Action - I can't tell you how many times a new distributor has said to me - "I can't be successful with this business until we get XYZ products, or changes." That always amazed me since myself and others were having great success with things just the way they were. My goal has always been to have a huge, growing organization so that when positive changes happen, more people experience great benefits!

3. Copy is the Name of the Game - If you follow and copy a method of growing and building your business that has worked for others, that is all you need to do. No need to get creative in the beginning, unless you really want to slow things down.

4. Goal Setting is a MUST - How can you know where you are going, or if you have succeeded unless you have decided where you are going? It has been proven time and time again that those who succeed have clear, specific, written goals. You won't be the exception so get those goals on paper right now!

5. Attend Events - This is another one that stumps me - the new distributor who claims they are not going to attend an event until they make some money. Two thoughts on this - go make some money and get to the event; and what of the event is the thing you need so you can make some money? The top income earners attend events. Again, enough said.

6. Retail With the Goal to Recruit - Some will and some won't, but you always want to make sure every retail customer knows about the exciting opportunity behind your company. You are offering a gift!

7. Have a Positive Mindset - Expect the best, always. Find the positive in any situation. People like to be around and do business with positive, upbeat people!

8. Be in Business Every Day - Busy people get things done and consistent actions are what product big results over time. The beauty in Direct Sales is that you can create amazing results from small, but specific daily actions. Contact 2 people a day about your business and watch what happens at the end of the year!

9. Be the Leader You Look Up To - Leadership and setting a good example in our profession is critical. Do all of those activities you expect your team to do and share your results for inspiration.

10. Never Quit - Ask many top income earners what the secret is to their success is and they will tell you - "I just didn't quit." We get better at anything with practice and repetition. Be willing to go through the struggles and challenges of growing your skills in Direct Sales. It is so worth it!

Social Media and Blogging In 20 Minutes a Day

One of the hardest things to make time for, especially when you are working full time or have small ones at home (or both) is finding time for blog posts and creating content for social media sites.

And, this can be a stumbling block for some who wonder - What can I write about? What do I say?

I have felt your pain, many years ago when I started online marketing and realized that I needed to be able to add value and content online to get my name out there and develop relationships with like minded people. After all that is what the internet is all about.

Here is how I create content and make my time count and "get it done."

If we are connected on facebook or twitter, you may notice that I have a "Note" or blog post added every day. But, here's a secret. I don't create this content everyday. I do content in blocks of time for one or two weeks in advance, and then use the "Posting options" feature that most blogs have to allow your content to "post" at designated times.

I may create 10-14 short business blurbs in one, two hour sitting, add them to my blog and set them up to post everyday or two. I have my blogs hooked in through Friendfeed.com, Twitter and Facebook applications so that my postings automatically show up.

I learned how to do this just by playing around, so if you have a blog, look at the posting options and see if you don't have a function allowing you to set the date and time.

Go to Settings and then Application Settings at the top right of your facebook page. Or, do like I did and get the book "Facebook for Dummies!"

If you can set your Single Daily Actions and weekly actions up to make the most of chunks of time, you'll get extremely efficient and effective and will find that managing a business both online and offline is not that tricky.

Where to find content? Last week I pulled out two 1999 Upline Magazines and took ideas from that. No, I didn't just copy what I read but I took one person's 10 tips for something and found 5 ideas from that and put those into my own words. I found someone else's article on relationship building and re-wrote it.

If you don't have Jan Ruhe's M.L.M. Nuts and Bolts, GET IT! There is limitless content that you can take from that and put into your own words. Same with Zig Ziglar's Network Marketing for Dummies.

Priceless nuggets that you can pull from and create great content.

Finally, search out other blogs and post comments (of value) and begin generating name recognition from those who also visit that blog. What do I mean by value? Don't just say "Good job." That doesn't provide value to those who read comments (and there are many!) Writing something more about what you actually GOT from the content is best.

I made a blog post comment last week on someone's blog and got a personal email thank you from the blog owner, picked up 10 names for my own newsletter and 14 Twitter followers. Never know where those things will lead!

Squeeze in time for your internet marketing efforts as you continue to build in other ways. I spend only about 20 minutes a day actually ON social media sites, unless I am done with other things and it's into the evening and too late to be calling leads, etc. Sometimes while the kids are doing homework, I can hang with my laptop and "Tweet" on twitter or jump around on facebook. I always work to make that time count.

And, remember to be SOCIAL as much as business on SOCIAL media sites. Instead of blasting your opportunity, mention what's great about your business that fits into your lifestyle. People will become attracted and click on your profile to learn more. You don't even need to post a link if you are providing value!

Leadership Principle #3 - Importance and Appreciation

Importance and Appreciation

Have you ever had an encounter with someone where you knew you were not appreciated or important? It's not a great feeling. Every person is special and deserves to know that. And, it takes so little to impart this feeling to another.

No matter how busy you are, take a moment to connect with people each day. Ask about their day; their life; their business. Ask how you can add value to their life and be sincere.

The CEO of my Network Marketing Company went car shopping the other day and first stopped into the Lexus Dealership. He was dressed in jeans a sweatshirt, and you have to know right up front that he is a wheeler/dealer! He loves the art of the bargain and negotiation. He began to negotiate on a high priced Lexus.

After the car salesman "sized him up", he pointed to another car, and suggested he consider that model. It was priced much less. My friend made a quick exit and drove right over to the BMW dealership where he was treated as the most important person on the planet by that car salesman.

Guess which car he bought? Guess how many people are hearing this story? Guess the value of positive press for BMW and negative press for Lexus?

Never make assumptions about someone based on their clothing or other "physical" things about them. Get to know another before forming a lasting opinion.

Let people know they are important in every way that you can. Appreciate their talents and contributions to your business and your life.

This leadership principle was taken from the Mary Kay Ash principles taught in the book, The Mary Kay Way.

Leadership Principle #2 - Build With People

Build With People

Look at any great company and you'll find great people behind it. How many times have you seen corporate buyouts of successful companies only to see those companies run into the ground by poor management and leadership of the purchasing company.

Each person has amazing gifts and talents just waiting to be released. Set a goal to always "sponsor up" and look for those who are better than you. This builds a very strong, stable business.

You can't cut corners when it comes to growing people. Let people know that you are there for them; willing to listen and mentor them to success. Yes, they must match you in the effort. Always make sure that you are sincere in your sponsoring and willing to go the extra mile to assist someone in achieving the success desired.

Find out what people want and reach out a hand to help. Empower them to reach inside and find their own greatness to move themselves forward.

This leadership principle was taken from the Mary Kay Ash principles taught in the book, The Mary Kay Way.

Are You Benefiting From the Internet in Business?

The Power of an Internet Based Business

When asked recently why I felt the Internet had played such an important role in my business, I had to really stop and think about just what it has meant. Really, if I sum it up, it's the difference between having a business and creating a lifestyle, and having a job.

See, the Internet provided the total solution for me when I began using it nearly ten years ago. I was struggling in my Network Marketing business prior to taking my business online. As the mother of small children, my ability (and, yes, willingness) to leave my children with a sitter or in daycare to run around town giving business overviews greatly stunted my ability to build an effective business.

Once I had exhausted my warm market, I needed a way to find interested prospects. Well, heck, if the internet is the greatest self help tool ever invented, then it makes sense that many prospects must be online looking for a business, so in essence, looking for me, right?

Well, that is absolutely right and that is absolutely what has happened. I took my business to the Internet; I struggled through building a personal website; learning lead capture and auto-responder details; and finally, how to market my business online.

One thing I knew from day one – jumping into social networks; forums and other places where people hang out and blasting out worthless messages about how great my opportunity is was not going to build a stable business. How is it that I "got that" ten years ago and so many people have not? It's worth repeating – if you wouldn't do it at a party offline, don’t do it at a party online! It's not welcome and it's obnoxious!

The second thing I learned is that picking up the phone and making contact as soon as possible would create relationships and friendships that would lead to business partnerships. The Internet is a great tool to make contact, but it doesn’t develop the relationship. It has no true human factor and network marketing is still a people to people business.

Finally, I know that I would never be where I am today if not for the Internet. See, I could have built the business I have, but it would have cost me the relationship I have with my children. It would have required me to be gone; out of the house for probably 4 nights a week and one weekend. It would have required more travel than the "once a quarter" trip I take now. It would have meant much more time on the phone.

So, for me, the Internet has been a priceless business building tool. It has been the center of my business, besides the people who are involved. It has connected me to some of the most amazing people on the planet. It has allowed me to "multiply" myself and be many places at once.

I encourage you to see how this tool might benefit you and your business. If you pursue it and commit to master it (as best it can be mastered) like I have, you will never look back and never regret it.

My best to you.

Leadership Principle #1 - Golden Rule Leadership

Golden Rule Leadership

As you develop your leadership style, think about the way you want people to speak of you as a leader. What things will be written about your leadership style?

Adopting the principle of "Golden Rule Leadership" helps insure a win-win for everybody. It's pretty simple – Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Not just when it is convenient.

Think about how you like to be treated and then treat others in that same way. Everyone deserves respect, certainly in the beginning. Everyone deserves the chance to be heard; listened to.

When you make a promise or commitment, keep it. When you make a mistake or are wrong, admit it and apologize. This is something that seems to have been lost in our culture. It only takes a handful of people to make a difference, though. Be part of that change!

Make it a point to make a difference in as many lives as you can each and every day. A simple, sincere compliment can truly change a life. When you shake someone's hand, be fully engaged in that person and look them in the eye. Make them feel important to you through your actions.

Give more than you expect to receive. Give whether or not it means a financial payout for you. You will reap the rewards many times over.

When faced with a challenging situation, ask yourself, how can the Golden Rule fit into this? What would that rule dictate for the solution? Often, this will quickly reveal a solution that is a win-win for everyone.

This leadership principle was taken from the Mary Kay Ash principles taught in the book, The Mary Kay Way.

Using PPC to Develop Your Keyword Strategy

You've built your website to promote yourself and your business, right, and now you want to work on your keyword strategy for getting high search engine rankings and driving that ever elusive traffic your way! Well, here is a great way to determine what keywords are going to work the best in your business.

Start a Pay Per Click Ad Campaign with Google, Yahoo Search and/or MSN.

Let's use Google for our example. It's simple to open a PPC campaign and the minimum amount it will cost you is $25. This is a very inexpensive way to test what's going to be the best strategy for attracting the most customers and prospects to your page.

This can save you thousands of hours and time is money, right!

Make sure you read my previous post on SEO so you have an idea about developing your website keyword strategy. - http://jackieulmer.blogspot.com/2009/08/are-you-confused-by-seo-and-search.html

Once you have identified your target market and the most likely terms that they might use when they are searching for a site/business like yours, you can start your PPC campaign and test out those keywords to see which ones pull the most traffic.

Get a free Cheat Sheet on how to get this started and what it all means.

Once you open your account, be sure to read through the Beginner's Guide so you know what you are doing. Be prepared to trial, test and make changes for a full 90 days so you can see how to best adapt your site to fit your visitor profile through the most popular keywords. Your goal is to make the most of your advertising efforts; spend as little as possible for the highest level of results.

Using this strategy, you can track the number of clicks it takes to get your end result. This result could be for your visitor to opt in to your campaign; buy something; join your business, etc.

Once you've tracked out 90 days, you can begin to fine tune your website based around these keyword strategy results and begin to generate organic search engine traffic as well.

Key Quality #2 of the Successful Network Marketer

What defines success in any profession? Typically, there are a few qualifiers and Network Marketing is no different. Too many people, however, enter our profession and think success will happen even if they take shortcuts. Not so. Network Marketing, like any solid profession, requires mastery of a few essential components if one wants to experience true success.

Quality # 2 - Develop a Loyal Customer Base

I know, I know – you were told that Network Marketing isn't about selling; it's simply sharing! Whatever. Do you want to be successful? Then don't be afraid of the word – SALES! It's not a dirty word. Sales goes on everyday and you are a part of it in some way every day. Why not profit from it yourself, since you offer great products and you believe in those products.

Big checks are created through sales volume and there is no better way to create sales volume than to develop a few, loyal customers and teach others to do the same. People will stay in the business when they have success, and that first success of getting a customer goes a long way to securing everyone's future.

Here is a shocker – not everyone you know is going to want to get involved in the business. In fact, most won't. But a strong number of those people will be interested in trying out your products.

For me personally, no one in my family is involved in my business and no one in my circle of close friends is either. They are, however, my best customers and strongest source of referrals. This creates a retail income source to fund a marketing budget for the business and it builds volume. As a leader, I am setting a good example for my team by retailing.

Set a goal of finding ten to fifteen customers. These are people who just use your products and are not interested in the opportunity. As I mentioned yesterday, I give away a lot of my products. Try this as well. Give a demo to ten or fifteen friends, along with a catalog and order form and see what happens.

Provide good customer service by following up to see how they like the products and check in regularly for repeat orders. Give discounts and add in bonuses. These are tax write-offs, and more importantly, they secure your customer base.

Teach your team to do the same and watch your group volume and commission checks soar!

Tomorrow, Key Quality #3 – Study Your Profession.

Does Attraction Marketing Really Work in MLM

Does Attraction Marketing in MLM really work online? It certainly seems to be the buzz word these days, doesn't it? Everywhere you look, someone is talking about it. But, how many people are really practicing it, and can it really be done?

How do you set yourself apart and draw customers and prospective business partners to you? Well, it's really fairly simple, and actually easier to do online than offline.

Think of the many people who you may have run across online who are "peddling" their MLM Opportunity. Spamming it is probably a better word choice. Most Network Marketers online think that the way to build online is to over-hype their opportunity to EVERYONE they come into contact with.

They buzz onto Facebook, make a zillion friends and then zap them all a message telling them how great their deal is; how much money they are making and how "just plain stupid" you are for not joining them yesterday!

How many times have you clicked to know more when you get these obnoxious posts? Probably none!

So how do you begin an MLM Attraction Marketing Magnet? How do you get people beating down your door to join your business?

I'm going to give you three key concepts to practice when you are marketing your business online.

Concept One – Be authentic. This is easier said than done for some, but seriously, how hard is it to just be yourself? Share your story and let people see who you are. Don’t try to embellish your experiences in MLM or try to be a "success story" that you have not yet created.

Instead, share your successes and your failures; your hopes, goals and dreams. Talk about your motivation and reason why you are building a business. Share things that you have tried that didn't work out. Share what you see in your opportunity in a very real way, without using any hype.

These things are what will bond your prospect to you because there will likely be some common ground between you.

Concept Two – Provide content and value – give your knowledge away freely. You may have
seen it said that you must be willing to give in order to get. Be willing to give away some of your "Secrets" to building successfully. Share tips and resources that have worked for you. Share as much free stuff as you can find.

It's okay to offer affiliate programs and other monetization models that help fund your business, but make sure you are not always coming after your prospects or your audience with your hand out. Give away more than you profit from, and make sure what you give away offers true value.

A good way to give away content of value is to do a review on a product or service you have used online. Or, perhaps explain an effective way you have discovered of using Facebook, or a particular application there. Have you figured out a great way to manage your Social Networking activities? This would be something great to share with an audience who will be hungry to know any time saving techniques you can offer.

Content and value are what reign supreme online and you will quickly generate a following and many prospects when you can be counted on for great information.

Concept Three – Become a consultant in the Network Marketing Profession. This doesn't mean give away all of your time, but be willing to devote some time to assisting those outside of your own downline. When someone comes to you with a problem or question, pick up the phone and give them a quick call if possible. You will likely make their jaw drop and they will appreciate and remember you for this.

Make sure you make that time about the person you are calling and not just a chance for you to go on and on about yourself or your business. Ask questions and listen. See if you can get to the heart of this person's need and find a way to provide a solution.

You never know when the time might come that this person will be looking to make a company change. I promise that the time you invested in that person and that phone call will stand out and likely prompt them to consider joining your team!

Attraction Marketing works like a charm if you will take the time to master the skills of coming from a place of contribution. Give generously and know that you will soon have prospects lining up at your door! Be ready to coach them to do the same!

What I Have Learned From Renegade Pro

Well, the buzz and hype is out there, no doubt. Have you jumped on the bandwagon?

Seriously, to give you an evaluation of the Pro Version of Renegade, here is what I have experienced.

First, there truly is GREAT value here. I was intrigued and didn't know for sure, but I have been very pleasantly pleased! Mike K. has a great style of teaching so if you are SERIOUS about learning the techniques that you can also duplicate to build a downline in MLM, this course might be right for you.

You'll have to see for yourself. Everyone has a niche. Mine just might be videos.

So, here is something I learned right away and put together in less than an hour, ALL with tools that already came on my laptop. (My desktop had it, too!) I put this video together while in my PJs, in bed, with my laptop. Does it get better?

This is truly something anyone can do with the desire to learn! I used Windows Movie Maker (already preloaded in my computer programs); photos I had already take; my Itunes music and my creative juices, ha!

Preview my Youtube Channel to see other videos I have created and see if video might be right for you.

Why Can't I Sponsor Anyone in My MLM Business

This is a common question asked by those when they get into a Network Marketing business.

"I want to build a team, and I just can't seem to sponsor anyone."

A couple of things always come to mind -

First, how many people are you talking to each DAY? Think about this - you must have your business open each day in order to "make the sale." Now, you can take a day or two off, so let's focus on 5 days a week. When I first started in the business, I was taught this saying -

"2 contacts a day brings prosperity my way!" Don't know who first said that but that mantra sat by my telephone for years. And, I didn't always take action on it. Once I did, my whole business changed.

So, you may be asking, how do I find 2 people a day to talk to? Easy, really.

Here are just some examples -

How about your list? Have you made your list? How many people have you contacted and notified about your business from that list? Are you hesitant? Why, what's holding you back?

You can join a networking group such as BNI or your Chamber of Commerce.

You can run ads in your local paper or a national publication.

You can buy leads (talk to your sponsor for details.)

You can make 2 friends a day online. Now, this doesn't mean find 2 people online and blast them with your business. It's about networking out online. Make sure you understand how to do this effectively.

Watch my Video for Details.

You can contact people as you are out and about in your daily life.

I'm not sure which methods you will find are the best for you, but decide on what you are willing to commit to and JUST DO IT!

Second, how will you contact them? I personally like to use the third party approach when working with warm market; out and about; or BNI/Networking Groups -

"Hey, question for you, maybe you can help me out. I have been developing a business of my own that I can work from home, and I am looking for a few people who might want to join a team and work together to expand our products into this area. Do you know anyone who might be looking to make a career change, or develop a side business?"

Now, you haven't asked them directly, but you have planted a seed. Our business is all about planting seeds. Plant and water.

Third, once you have someone who is interested, know the exact next steps you will take them through.

Here is an example -

Step 1 - Information Packet - Letter, Business Brochure; and whatever details those in your upline use and recommend. Just ask

Step 2 - Make follow up call; answer questions and ask for decision. If they need more info, guide them to another tool - website; opportunity webinar; conference call; 3 way call; again, ask your upline.

Step 3 - Follow up again and repeat steps above.

If the timing isn't right, respect that and ask if you may check back in every 3-4 months and provide updates, in case their situation changes.

That's it. We aren't convincing, we are planting the seed and seeing what sprouts.

Try this for a 90 day period and see what happens. Commit to two a day, ten a week, which is about 44 contacts a month, and over 130 in 90 days. You will make a promotion or two in your pay plan; you will have the start of something substantial and you will have made some product sales.

How simple is that?

Here is the key - repeat the process again EVERY 90 days. Don't stop when you get a few people started and turn around and see what they are going to do. Always be in action!

FYI - Mark Yarnell won't sponsor someone unless they are willing to commit to 2 hours a day and those two hours are spent contacting about business or retail. He believes that is about 30 contacts a day. It's worth noting that he has made over $30 million in his career in Network Marketing!

What is the system, asked my MLM Downline Partner

I was recently asked by a member of my downline "What's our system and how do I find it?" Well, for me, the word "system" is always a tricky subject. There are several "systems" that can be used, and what is the best will depend a lot on the individual.

First, let me say that I define "system" as the method for finding prospects to contact, presenting, following up, sponsoring and duplicating, so there are several components to the "system."

There is the "warm market" system, which is what I consider a business launch, and the most simple system. It's a system of notifying those you know that you are in business. Simply notifying. Not bugging, harassing, or begging!

The system you use to present the information about your business should be pre-planned, and there should be several methods depending on your prospects needs and ability to receive information.

There is the mailed packet; email; website overview; 3 way call; opportunity call, etc. Check with your upline and see what is recommended.

After that, there are other "systems" available – running ads, buying leads, Chamber of Commerce/BNI, Shows and Expos, Walking and Talking, etc. Actually, these are the first steps in the system, or method for finding prospects.

Then, there is the internet and the ability to create a whole, new warm market online.

For me, I am an internet marketer and that is by choice. I consider myself to be an internet marketer FIRST, and within that I align with a network marketing company as my primary (but not only) revenue source.

There are many "systems" out there and the key is finding what is going to be a fit for you and fine tuning your target market to that way of doing it. There is someone for every system and way of building the business. Don’t let anyone tell you that one particular way of doing things is wrong, slower, won't work, or non-duplicable. Every system will work if it is right for the person working it.

I've been told repeatedly that the internet system will never work and yet I have enormous success behind me, as do others on my team using that method to disprove that theory. Will it work for someone who despises technology and has no interest or passion for learning the internet? No.

Just like the shy, introvert who would rather die than do public speaking will not succeed with a system involving BNI and Chamber of Commerce meetings. Does it work? Sure, for the right individual.

I do this same basic thing as the simple, warm market system except I put a more technical step into it with the personal website. And, I build warm market using the internet and use more of an attraction marketing approach. This method won't be for everyone, and that is okay. I am very clear on the market I am targeting and I am willing to be patient until those people who match my demographic desire show up, if that makes sense.

I am very clear that my target is those who do embrace technology and want to learn to utilize this amazing tool as a method of business building.

Market leading with the product and you get people who want to sell products and not always those who want to build a team, so duplication stops. Market with the opportunity and you get people who are coachable about the team building side of things.

Decide who you want to market to, who you want to work with and how you want to work your business and find a coach/mentor who will pave the way for you!

Climbing the LAST, Long, Steep Hill in Your Success Journey

Today, when I set off on my morning walk at Ventura Beach, I headed inland toward the foothills of the city. Although I love walking the beach strand, with the seagulls, surfers, walkers and fresh ocean scent, I wanted a tougher work out.

I've walked this area before but as I came around a familiar turn, I saw a steeper road leading up further on the hill than I had ever noticed before. "Oh, geez" I thought. I didn't want to do it. My immediate instinct was –"no, I've done enough, time to head back." And, that second, small, inner voice said – "C'mon wimp. You wanted a tougher workout. Think how good you'll feel once you are at the top."

"I'll just go half way" said the first small voice and I headed up. I had already put in a solid walk, lots of up and down the foothills, and my heart rate was definitely up. After a 15 second internal battle of the wills, I knew that I had to keep climbing. I had to push myself just a little further and get that extra burn and, more importantly, that feeling of accomplishment!

As I got to the top and turned around to head back down, I stopped in my tracks. The view was stunning. All of Ventura Harbor, the Channel Islands and the wide open ocean spread out before me. A sailboat regatta was just coming out of the harbor along with 2 charter boats of visitors to the islands. Surfer's Point was off to the right and the water was filled with surfers, anticipating the next great wave. I couldn't believe my payoff for making the climb!

What if I had cut it short and missed the view from the top? What if I had decided that enough was enough and I would just "settle" for the norm? What if I had let the first small voice win out and determine my destiny for that day?

Do you ever do this in your business? I sure have. My network marketing career has been filled with days of "settling." I've had goals of making 10 dials and stopped after making the first call when someone hung up on me. I've made a business plan for the next day and scrapped it in favor of reading a good book because that was easier.

Ultimately, though, over time, I made the decision to keep going. Once I realized that it wasn't going to kill me, I made the decision to push myself a little more. And, then a little more. And, even more!

There are many hills to climb in building a Network Marketing business and many pop up when you least expect it. Sometimes, you'll come around a corner and see a really long hill that you hadn't seen before. You know you've walked that path, but you swear that hill wasn't there before. You have to climb that long, last hill for the day. You have to climb it every time it shows up. You may be tired, out of breath and out of water, but you do have it in you to keep pushing forward.

Just like the view of the harbor from the top of the hill on my walk, the view from the top of your successful network marketing business is incredible. Indescribable, even. Filled with things you can't even imagine.

On a recent call with John Fogg, he asked me what the best thing has been for me about network marketing. Without missing a beat, or thinking it through, I answered with the very first thing that came to mind – personal peace, satisfaction and the feeling of accomplishment.

It's not the money; the title; the plaques and awards. Those are nice, and they felt good at the time. But nothing even comes close to the feeling I have knowing that I did it. I hit the top 1% or smaller of network marketers. I pushed against the odds and overcame the biggest obstacle of all, myself, and made it to the top.

Nothing can ever take that away. Nothing. It's mine and I own it. I want you to own it, too. Put on your walking shoes and take the journey to the top. You can’t even imagine what you will find there.

MLM Performance VS. Odds: Let's Be Clear

Oh, this one is a doozy, for sure.

Like many others, I have grown tired over the last 15 years, hearing about the "failure rate" in MLM and Network Marketing. I'm not sure about you, but when I started in the profession, I was skeptical, but certainly not going to "fail" if I decided to really invest myself in it.

I have also always wondered about those who want to know the "averages" of those in the business - average incomes; average sponsoring rations; etc. Who wants to be "average?"

Tim Sales really gets to the heart of it in his video and I invite you to not only enjoy 10 minutes of solid education, but decide for yourself where you fit into the equation and then share this video with everyone who has chosen the time and financial freedom that is associated with our profession.

It's "performance", not odds that determine whether one will be successful. It's actions, not just wishing. Thanks Tim!

Creating MLM Momentum; Overcoming Obstacles and Reaching the TOP of the Mountain

Do you struggle with calling people who never call you back? They request information and then vaporize into thin air? Do you hand out samples and invite people to visit your website, but nothing ever happens? Do you schedule parties and retail events and get snowed out; or few people show? Do you sign people up in the business and they never even get started? They never place more than their first Starter Pack order?

You are on the right path and I want to assure you that everyone who has attained success in our business or any other has also faced and overcome these same challenges.

You MUST keep your chin up in order to have success in this business. Refuse to let events and people get you down or disappoint you. Those who you need are out there, and you never know how they are incubating, waiting to get involved.

Especially with leads. Don't assume that their lack of response means they aren't interested. Often it just means they aren't ready. I have had people join me 2 years after requesting information and many times, I haven't heard anything from them in that time. But they are studying and holding onto information.

Remember that this business is about starting with that small snowball and rolling it across the field until it gathers momentum and you reach the hill, and push it overboard. Once you get to that point, stand back. It flies and it does so quite effortlessly.

The hardest part is keeping the faith until you get a big enough snowball to shoot it down the hill.

Plant seeds DAILY. Water those seeds REGULARLY. Have a BIG vision of what your future holds here. And, never quit on any of these activities.

Instead of standing at the bottom looking at the top of the mountain, just look 10 feet in front of you and take those steps each day and just keep climbing! It's been said that you can drive from Los Angeles to New York in the dark with your headlights focused no more than 20 feet ahead. Follow the markings on the road that have been placed there by those who have gone before.

I promise you this - you will never regret it once you reach the top. You will feel amazing and empowered and you will spread those feelings to others.

Have You Struggled With Internet Marketing Success

STREET SMART WEALTH.com
INTERNET MARKETING WEAPONS

=======================================

I just returned from the MLMCruise where I met someamazing networkers and Internet Marketers. If you arepurusing success in either or both of these businessmodels, read on, you'll love this.

If you've looked into starting an online business then I bet you've discovered it's not nearly as easy as you've been led to expect, right?

Have you struggled with how to use Twitter, Facebook, online forums and other methods for getting prospectsto you? What about blogging, Search Engine tactics, building your list and Google Adwords?

The system and the answer is finally here, in one place.

There are a LOT of pieces to the puzzle - and most of the training out there is missing some (and much of it is pure hype, of course).

Even once you have all the pieces it can be confusing to make them fit together profitably.

In fact, Internet marketing expert Bill Hibbler explains that trying to start from scratch and put the puzzle together is a big mistake.

He admits he's guilty of making the same mistake, too. I know it was sure rough for me when I started9 years ago.

It's just too much for most people who are trying to get started part time on a limited budget, he says.

And he should know.

Bill's a best selling author, speaker, respected marketing coach, and he's got over 9 years of success online under his belt.

He's known for his 'pull no punches' straight talk, so when he said beginners should follow a totally different path to get started, I knew you'd want the whole story.

What's interesting is that the alternative Bill suggests isn't new... but with the arrival of high quality 'Internet TV' the game has changed completely.

I agree with Bill on this.

I think just about anyone who was even a little serious about getting started online will be able to easily do this.

Anyway, I thought I'd recommend you check it out.Take a look for yourself and see what you think.

Have an awesome weekend.

MLM Advertising on a Budget

I was just asked by a new team member how to build a business on little to no budget. Here are ten ideas I offered.

Many people who start a home based business have a limited advertising budget However for the life of your business it is important that you get the word out as quickly as possible. These tips will help you do just that without breaking the bank.

1. Word of Mouth is one of the best forms of advertising. It is absolutely free and if done correctly, you will get a great response. Talk to everyone you know about your business, Ask your family and friends for referrals. Make an effort to meet new people while you are out and about. If the internet is a tool that you use to grow your business visit message boards, you can meet a lot of people who will be interested in what you have to offer.

2. Go to trade shows and expos. Start conversations and pass out and collect cards as appropriate. Be respectful of others who have paid to be there and be subtle. Save prospecting conversations for a phone call later. Plant lots of seeds.

3. Join a networking group. There are many great sites on the internet that you can join that are absolutely Free. You can meet people that can possibly be interested in your business. If you prefer networking offline, contact your local chamber of commerce. Most hold monthly mixers that you can attend for a nominal fee. This will give you the opportunity to meet local business owners in your community.

4. Make use of your email. Be sure that every email that you send out includes your signature tag. Make it short and catchy so that it will arouse people’s curiosity.

5. Hand out your business cards. Include one in every piece of mail that you send out, give one to everyone you exchange money with, leave them at restaurants with your tip, and any where else that you can think of.

6. Get a web decal. These are great advertising tools and they're very inexpensive. Just come up with a catchy slogan and your url address. Every time that you drive, you will be advertising your business.

7. Wear your business. Get t-shirt, hats or pins that promote your business. This will promote interest and curiosity.

8. Write articles. Articles are a great form of advertising. Your articles do not have to be business related. Write about topics that you are very familiar with and passionate about. Attach a resource box to every article that you write. A resource box tells the reader a little about you and your business. Many websites and e zines are looking for quality articles to reprint.

9. Start your own online newsletter. Newsletters are a great tool to help you build your business. You are able to stay in touch with people who have opted in to receive information from you. Make your newsletter informative and enjoyable to read. There are a lot of newsletters out there so you must distinguish yourself from the crowd. Have Fun and be creative when creating your newsletter.

10. Use postcards to market your business. Postcards are inexpensive to mail and most importantly they get read. With postcard you only have a small amount of space to write, so you want to make sure that you have a catchy headline and an ad that propels people to act. Offer a FREE gift or a discount.

Just do it and you'll succeed!
